현대사회에서 우리는 다양한 윤리적 쟁점(예: 안락사, 경제적 불평등, 인종차별, 직업윤리 등)들을 경험하고 있다. 본 교과목에서는 이러한 쟁점들을 분석하기 위하여 이론적 토대로써 주요 윤리 이론들을 살펴하고, 실제 사례(현장)들을 연계하여 탐색할 것이다. 학습자들은 다양한 자료(교재, 유튜브, 신문기사, 영화 등) 활용과 수업 활동(토의/토론, 현장면담, 발표 등)을 통해, 지성인으로서 추구해야 할 윤리적 기준 성찰과 실천의지, 합리적인 주장과 설득 기술을 배양할 것이다.

우리는 현대 사회를 정보화 사회라고 한다. 정보처리 능력이 획기적으로 증대된 컴퓨터, 통신 속도를 극대화시킨 광섬유와 위성의 등장은 현대 사회를 정보화라는 새로운 현상을 출현시켰다. 컴퓨터와 통신이 결합되고 거기에 디지털 기술이 이용되고 있다. 그 어느때보다도 많은 정보를 쉽게 접하고 역사적으로 그 어느 사회보다도 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 이러한 정보 사회의 발전은 통신이라는 메시지 전달을 통한 새로운 인간 관계와 자아정체성의 변화를 경험하게 하며 가상 공간이라는 새로운 생활공간에 의해 현실생활에 까지 영향을 주고 있다. 정보화 사회로의 변화는 많은 긍정적인 결과들을 가져왔으나 그에 못지 않게 불건전한 정보가 유통되고 오남용된다던가 청소년들의 컴퓨터 중독증, 저작권침해의 문제와 관련된 소프트웨어의 불법 복제, 해킹과 바이러스, 유해사이트가 만연하는 등의 사이버 공간의 문제, 프라이버시 침해, 정체성 변화에 따른 문제 등 정보사회 일반에 대한 부정적인 도덕문제들이 대두되고 있다. 이에 대해 우리의 정보윤리교육은 현실적이지 못하고 교과서에서 언급하고 있는 부분도 미비한 실정이다. 실제적이고 현실에 맞는 정보윤리교육이 절실한 상태이다. 본 논문에서는 정보화 사회의 의미와 특성을 살펴보고 이러한 특성들로 인해 파생된 여러 가지 윤리적 문제점들을 살펴봄으로써 정보화 사회 윤리적 문제에 관심을 제고시키고 이러한 문제점들을 해결하는데 보다 미래지향적이고 지속적인 의미의 교육에 초점을 맞춰 자율적 규제에 의한 도덕교육에 대한 필요성을 강조하고자 한다. 또한 정보화 사회에서의 덕목중심, 원리 중심의 행해지고 있는 도덕교육을 살펴봄으로써 현행 도덕교육의 한계와 대응방안의 필요성에 대해 강조하고자 하며, 인간의 존엄성이라는 목표아래 정보화사회의 도덕교육의 개선방안의 필요성을 전제하여, 사이버 윤리교육과 통합교육, 책임 윤리교육을 강조하고자 함을 목적으로 한다. 이에 논의를 하는데 있어 자료분석법 위주의 문헌연구 방법을 사용하였으며 정보화사회 일반에 대한 논의와 사이버 윤리에 대한 논의가 복합적으로 이루어져 있음을 밝혀둔다. 그리고 정보화 사회의 문제점을 해결하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있을수 있으나 본 논의에서는 도덕교육에 초점을 맞추고 있음을 한계점이라 할 수 있겠다. 또한 윤리교육의 개선방향을 논의함에 있어 방법상의 연구가 흡족하게 언급되고 있지 못하다는 점, 구체적인 수업방안에 대한 논의는 더 연구할 여지가 있다는 점을 밝힌다. 본 논문의 내용은 다음과 같다. 1장은 본 연구의 목적, 방법, 한계점을 다루고 있다. 2장은 정보화 사회의 의미와 특성, 그리고 정보화 사회의 윤리문제들을 다루고 있다. 컴퓨터 발달에 따른 과다 정보 노출과 이에 따른 정보유통과 오남용의 문제, 청소년 컴퓨터 중독의 문제, 저작권 침해와 관련된 소프트웨어의 불법 복제 문제, 해킹과 바이러스 유포, 폭탄제조, 프라이버시 침해의 문제, 정체성 변화에 따른 문제들을 집어보고 이에 따른 해결점을 찾아보고자 하였다. 3장은 현행 정보교육은 단순한 덕목 나열의 방법도 아니며 그렇다고 정보화 사회의 특성에 맞추어 올바른 정보의 선택이나 판단을 위한 명확한 원리도 제시하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 그동안 이루어진 원리 교육의 연장일뿐 새로운 대안이 존재하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 정보화 사회에서의 덕목중심, 원리 중심 윤리교육의 내용을 알아보고 그 한계점을 논의해 보고자 하였다. 4장은 비인간화, 비도덕적인 문제를 극복하는데 있어 교육이라는 대안과 기존의 정보 윤리 교육을 보완할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 정보화 사회에서의 인간 중심이라는 도덕교육의 목표를 중심으로 사이버윤리교육과 도덕적 상상력을 기반으로 한 통합교육, 참여를 중심으로한 도덕교육의 방법, 그리고 정직, 배려, 자기통제를 중심으로함 덕목교육, 자율성, 존중, 책임, 정의를 중심으로 한 원리교육과 이를 바탕으로한 정보교육의 내용 및 방법을 도덕교육의 개선방향으로 제시하고 있다. 5장은 결론으로 정보사회에서의 도덕교육은 인간의 존엄성과 고귀함에 대한 의식을 고양하는 것을 목표로 한다. 인간은 도덕적 차원을 통하여 인간다움을 지닐수 있는 것이다. 인간에게 있어서 합리적 차원이 대단히 중요하지만, 그것은 인간의 도덕적 차원에 대한 보조적인 역할을 수행하는 것에 다름이 아니다. 정보화 사회의 도덕 교육에서 다루어지는 문제 상황들은 제 각기 다른 배경과 갈등 구조를 가지고 있고 또 각 문제들의 갈등 구조도 끊임 없이 변화하고 있기 때문에 이에 따른 새로운 도덕 교육의 방향이 정립되어야 할 것이다.

The modern society is called the information society by the people. By a computer processing enormous amounts of information fast, optical fiber sending very large amounts of information in the form of light and various kinds of satellites, the advent of the informatization has been leaded in the modern society as a new phenomenon. Alvin Toffler, an American writer and futurist, has explained it as 'the Third Wave'. Today's society has been changing more rapidly than a society in the past as taking diverse information easily through not only computers and communication means but also high technology in the digital age. As the enormous amounts of information, which has encouraged the development of the information society, influence our lifestyles and philosophy or even change, we experience many different ways of human relations and ego-identity change, and are affected in real life by a cyberspace existing between computer networks. We are faced with many new ethical problems before such the information society is recognized as the utopia to us. Therefore, we should look into several aspects of ethical problems and think ethics apart from the realities of life over. This dissertation focuses on not ethical problems in cyber-culture and moral crisis in the information society but on a direction for improvement in moral education from the perspective of human dignity. The advancement of computers in the information society causes us go through the difficulty and confusion created by information explosion and overflow of information on the internet. With the overflow of information we tend to not only be rather insensible of the information than acceptable to it but also support choice of different persons than rational choice. It would bring about the possibility of side-effects of oversimplification in terms of the choice. Moreover, it would drive to generate a rise of metaphysical thinking from enhancement of centrifugal force and weakness of centripetal force with regard to psychology and a decline of existential thinking as well as a gradual loss of ego identity. Problems on the internet include such unhealthy information as violating individual's privacy and security, sending spam mails and sexual contents, etc. Cyber addiction is one of main problems. Adolescents and even juniors only occupied in on-line gaming look so ordinary that they do not have trouble in school and home life. But it results in a decrease in socializing and compulsive behavior which interferes with normal living and causes severe stress on family, friends, loved ones, and one's study environment. In addition, that illegal copy of software and use of intellectual property are some sorts of victimless crime is ignored by users. As though illegal copy of software wouldn't be entirely eradicated by present intellectual property laws, limits of intellectual property protection should be narrowed or improved on ethics. Another forms of serious problems are not only of cyber-crime which brutally and irresponsibly attacks people with different opinions using the anonymity of the internet and distribute computer viruses and hacking but of wide spread of such unhealthy sites regarding suicide help, bomb and guns making, terrors, and so on. With the information explosion some people who doesn't know what to do, how to do, and not have even those devices are found in unequality and isolation on gaining information. People at the upper level of social position can collect and use much larger amounts of information through internet and mass media than ones at the lower level can. Such difference would make information gap between two classes. An intrusion and various ways of it on people's privacy has been seriously grown from each individual to mass media. As cyber space described as the second life space is newly issued, new problems has been created from changes of identities. The identities are a set of criteria by which each individual not only learns about one's cognition and social role but deals with a lifestyle. Because a strong ego doesn't exist in the life on the cyber space, any individual suffers from some kinds of confusions over their identities. To improve and resolve such several ethical problems, there are some methods of law enforcement and of scientific technology, etc. This dissertation defines that the ethical education will be the most effective and efficient approach for the improvement in terms of a humanity growth by future-oriented ethical code. As a matter of fact, those problems would not be resolved with only one method, the ethical education. But the outcome can double the chances of succeeding when the education is developed together with other approaches. The current problem of the ethical education in modern society is to unable to provide clear principles in order for the right choice and judgement on diverse information because the education is not of one method just to explain a item of virtue. There doesn't exist in newly special alternatives but only the principle of education such as autonomy, evil prevention, goodness, and justice without indicating a specific discussion about. As a consequence, this dissertation is offered with not only the education as an alternative to improving the impersonal and immoral tendencies but also measures to correct the current problems of the educational methods. The moral education is aimed at elevating human dignity and the spiritually superior mind in the information society. Human beings will be the valuable entity through a morality. Rationality just plays an important role to support the morality. Therefore, every schools must guide students to the right direction on the emphasis of the morality. Basically, the schools shall focus the education on each student's attitude, virtue and role based on honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and so on. Due to the anonymous nature of the internet, the cyberspace forms a new world independently of a real world and construct a completely different human relations. In the process of it the users experience the ego-identity change, or even consist of new identity. As the cyberspace creates several different types of virtual reality to encounter something unknown or unexpected and makes us realize our new ego, different educational approaches are needed to adapt to it. Furthermore, an adequate education for the autonomy and right judgment on information shall be provided because of the possibility to lose of self-control in the process of the formation of life as information is collected and decision-making is centralized. Whereas the cyberspace as a new life space shall be appreciated with ethical consciouness raisig and netiquette, all sorts of unethical manners and unshamed behaviors are rampant in it. From now on the netiquette should be taught by school for the development of cyber community with full of humanity. The moral education in the information society goes side by side together with the cyber ethics education and an integrated approach to ethics education as well as ethics of responsibility. In this dissertation the integrated approach to ethics education focuses on the moral imagination. The cyber world on a monitor is replaced with behavior of the real world by high technology and imagination in the information society. The moral imagination, self-controlling all sorts of behaviors in the cyberspace, is necessarily significant to complement the limit of information education based on the existing knowledge and technology. And the items of virtue in the real world are limited to apply in the cyber world caused by particularity of the cyberspace and cyber ego. The moral imagination is suitable for seeking methods of ethic education in the cyber world. As a result, ethic education of responsibility, meaning of carrying responsibility about something and ways of judgment being responsible to whom, should be established. Such contents of the education will resolve the problems in the information society and be led to a new ethic education.
